Robbers target cash, cellphones

LAHORE, Nov 5: Robbers looted a number of people in separate incidents here on Monday. An eyewitness on condition of anonymity told Dawn by phone that Punjab Livestock Minister Syed Haroon Sultan Bokhari left his Cavalry Ground residence for an evening walk. As he was a few yards away from his house, two robbers, riding a bike, stopped him at gunpoint and demanded cash and cellphone.

In the meantime, the minister’s guards and driver standing at the doorstep, rushed to the scene. Robbers escaped empty-handed after seeing the policemen. The Factory Area police reached the spot.

Two armed men stopped Imran in front of FC College in Gulberg and snatched Rs5,000 and a cellphone while as many robbers came to Adnan at Liberty ground in Gulberg and deprived him of Rs24,000 and a cellphone.

Two robbers stopped Amjad at gunpoint in Krishannagar, Islampura and deprived him of his wallet and a cellphone. As many robber came to a citizen at Moon Market in Iqbal Town area and snatched Rs3,000 and a cellphone.

ROBBERIES: Four robbers stormed into the house of Irfan in H-Block, Johar Town, held inmates at gunpoint and took away Rs300,000, jewellery and other valuables.

Two armed men barged into Bhatti cellphone shop in Shahdara and took away cash and handsets.

A robber entered the cellphone outlet of Imran in Kot Lakhpat area and took away cash in thousands and a cellphone.

LIFTED: A car was lifted from Qilla Gujjar Singh and three motorcycles from Mughalpura, Iqbal Town and Lytton Road.
