PESHAWAR, Nov 5: The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) will chalk out a joint line of action against the state of emergency in the country, says senior vice-president of the Awami National Party (ANP) Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour.

Addressing a news conference here at the press club on Monday, the ANP leader urged the Pakistan People’s Party to join the opposition and launch a joint struggle against the Musharraf regime from the APDM platform.

“The country’s political scene is completely transformed now. We invite the PPP to join the opposition to jointly rid the nation of the dictator,” Mr Bilour said.

He said that Gen Musharraf had imposed emergency to prolong his unconstitutional rule. He said that Gen Musharraf had imposed martial law and not declared a state of emergency, because the Constitution could not be suspended in emergency.

Regarding the lawyers’ movement, Mr Bilour said his party would support their struggle and would oppose the government’s unconstitutional steps. He paid rich tribute to the judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts who had refused to take oath under the new Provisional Constitutional Order.
