KARACHI: Two held on graft charges

KARACHI, Nov 4: The National Accountability Bureau on late Saturday night arrested two accused whose arrests warrants had been issued by the accountability court.

A NAB spokesman said that Farooq Hashmi, budget officer of the Liaquat University of Medical Sciences, Jamshoro was picked up from Hyderabad.

Mr Hashmi has been accused of making assets beyond his known sources of income and the present worth of his property stands at around Rs70 million.

A reference (61/2007) was filed against Mr Farooq with the NAB and subsequently the Accountability Court No 1, issued his arrest warrants.

Similarly, a CBR official, the former deputy collector customs, Kaukab Salahuddin, was picked up from his residence in Karachi on late Saturday night.

Mr Salahuddin has also been accused of possessing wealth beyond his known sources of income. The current value of his assets stands at around Rs8.5 million.
