ISLAMABAD, Oct 31: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has collected Rs264.5 billion taxes during the July-October period of the current fiscal year as against the downward revised target of Rs264.1 billion set for the same period, showing a marginal growth over the target.

Provisional official figures released here on Wednesday showed that the revenue collection showed a growth of 11.5pc during the period under review when compared with the last year collection of Rs237.2 billion.

The revenue on account of direct taxes maintained its buoyant posture, as Rs93.8 billion have been collected during July-October 2007 against Rs82.5 billion last year, showing a growth of 13.6 per cent.

The sales tax collection has reached Rs109.8 billion against Rs97.6 billion during the period under review, indicating a growth of 12.6 per cent whereas growth in sales tax (import stage) has been 12.2pc, the domestic sales tax collection increased by 13.1 per cent, going up from Rs41.4 billion to Rs46.8 billion.

The tax receipts on account of excise duties have recorded a significant increase of 17.5 per cent touching Rs23 billion in July-Oct period of current fiscal year as against Rs19.5 billion during the same period in the past.

And finally, the collection of Rs38 billion from customs duties has been marginally up by 0.8 per cent as compared Rs37.691bn during the same period last year.
