Girls’ school blown up

Published October 22, 2007

MIRAMSHAH, Oct 21: The building of a girls’ school was blown up in Miramshah, agency headquarters of North Waziristan, on Saturday night.

An administration official said some people had planted four bombs in the Government Girls High School in Miramshah bazaar. The blast was heard in far off places.

A month ago, 50 computers and furniture had been stolen from the school.

The official said that security checkpoints had been set up in the town to protect government buildings and other property.

Schools and colleges have remained closed in North Waziristan for five months because of clashes between security forces and militants.
