KARACHI, Oct 20: Pakistan are aiming to feature at next year’s Asian Basketball Championship (ABC) qualifiers after a long lay-off, an official of the Pakistan Amateur Basketball Federation (PABF) said on Saturday.

A meeting of the Asian Basketball Federation (ABF) is due to take place in Malaysia before the year end to decide date and venue of the ABC, secretary, PABF, Lt Col Nasim Butt, confided to Dawn.

Subsequently, dates and venues for the qualifiers will be decided, said the official.

The secretary disclosed that he had approached his Asian counterpart who asked him to contact the secretary Middle East Zone, Sharma, for competing in the qualifiers.

This will be almost after a decade that Pakistan will make their presence felt in the Asian event.

During the period, the cagers had featured abroad once at the Islamic Games in Saudi Arabia two years back where they failed to impress due to lack of exposure.

The PABF office-bearers had recently completed a year since the election that took place on the order of Supreme Court on Oct 6 last.
