QUETTA, Oct 16: Caravans of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will leave for Karachi from northern, central and southern Balochistan and Quetta at 7am on Wednesday.

Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani announced this at a press conference at the Sarawan House on Tuesday. He was flanked by PPP leaders Jamal Khan Jogezai and Syed Saadullah Shah.

He said that all processions from Balochistan would reach Hub to join the main procession in Karachi to greet Benazir Bhutto at the airport.

Mr Raisani said that October 18 would be different from September 10, preferring not to mention the failed PML (N) plan to greet Nawaz Sharif. He claimed that more than one million people would greet Ms Bhutto upon her arrival in Karachi.

The PPP leader stated that Chaudhry Shujaat and Arbab Ghulam Rahim were frightened of Ms Bhutto’s return to Pakistan as they had no political roots.

Mr Raisani said that PPP workers would offer resistance if the rulers tried to obstruct the processions. He said that processions from Balochistan would be peaceful, adding that PPP workers had a clear political agenda to get the country out of its troubles under the leadership of Ms Bhutto.

PPP leader and former federal minister Akbar Lasi visited welcome camps established in the Jam Ghulam Qadir Stadium, Hub, and reviewed arrangements for receiving processions.
