Section 144 doesn’t welcome Ms Bhutto

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 12: The district administration erased graffiti chanting ‘Challo challo Karachi challo, Benazir Bhutto key Istiqbal key liya, 18 October ko’ on Friday.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) office-bearers, poll ticket candidates and activists covered city walls in graffiti. But the administration erased such slogans. A police official claimed that Section 144 had been imposed on writing slogans on walls.

A PPP city press release condemned the white-washing of slogans, saying the PPP had done wall chalking across the country to raise momentum of the workers regarding the reception of PPP Chairperson Ms Bhutto in Karachi on Oct 18, but no other district administration had erased their slogans except Toba Tek Singh.

They alleged that earlier all banners and party flags displayed on electricity poles had also been removed by the administration. — Correspondent
