Seven injured in clash between rival sects

By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 7: Seven people sustained bullet injuries when followers of two rival sects resorted to indiscriminate firing outside a mosque in Ladheki Gharbi locality in Narang Mandi police precincts on Sunday evening.

Worshippers belonging to Ahle-Sunnat and Ahle-Hadis sects had an argument over a religious issue followed by a scuffle. Later, both sides brought their weapons and seven people identified as Zahid, Zulfiqar, Hafeez, Tariq, Gulfam, Irfan and Noor Ahmed Rehmani were injured in the ensuing crossfire.

Three of them were taken to Lahore in critical condition while the remaining were hospitalised in Narang Mandi. The police started investigations.

ROBBERY: Three robbers stormed Muhammad Ali Waqas’ house in Al-Noor Colony here in Sadar police precincts, took the family on gunpoint and snatched gold jewellery and valuables worth thousands of rupees and fled. The police are investigating.

BODY: The Sadar police on Sunday recovered a decomposed body of an unidentified youth lying on Gujranawala Road. The police suspected that the outlaws might have kidnapped the youth over enmity or for ransom but later strangled him to conceal their identity.
