Two soldiers killed

MIRAMSHAH, Sept 30: Two paramilitary personnel were killed and 16 others were injured in attacks on security forces in different parts of North Waziristan on late Saturday night and Sunday.

Sources said that militants used rockets and missiles in attacks on security checkpoints and camps. In the Datakhel area, a checkpoint came under fire on Saturday night. One soldier was killed and three security personnel were injured. Security forces returned fire, forcing the attackers to flee.

A paramilitary checkpoint was attacked near Miramshah on Saturday. Three soldiers were wounded. Two soldiers were wounded in an attack on a checkpoint in Shawal area on Sunday.

Local people said the paramilitary headquarters was targeted with rockets and missiles in Miramshah on Sunday morning. Three rockets landed in the nearby helipad, leaving a technician and a soldier injured.

The sources said that a military convoy going to Razmak from Bannu was hit by a roadside bomb near Mirali Bazaar. Four soldiers were wounded in the attack.

Two security personnel were injured when another military convoy was hit with a remote-control bomb near Chashma Bridge on the Mirali-Miramshah road.
