Yousuf out of first Test?

By Our Correspondent

KARACHI, Sept 30: Prolific middle-order batsman Mohammad Yousuf is a doubtful starter for the first Test against South Africa which commences here at the National Stadium, it was reliably learnt by Dawn on Monday.

The seasoned middle-order batsman who last week took a somersault by announcing his return to Pakistan cricket after reversing his decision of joining the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) earlier this month, is said to have opted out of the Karachi Test at the last moment due to some personal reasons, sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Saturday.

Yousuf, the sources said, is likely to be replaced by Pakistan ‘A’ skipper Faisal Iqbal while all-rounder Yasir Arafat has also been placed on stand-by.
