BLA claims killing soldiers in Kohlu

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 30: The proscribed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed on Sunday that a number of security personnel had been killed in ‘heavy fighting’ between militants and security forces in an area of Kahan tehsil of the Kohlu district.

Bebarg Baloch, claiming to be a spokesman for the BLA, said that militants had attacked a convoy of security forces in Phbey Kach area of Kahan, killing at least four soldiers and injuring six others.

Talking to Dawn by a satellite telephone from an unknown place, the spokesman asserted that the militants also killed two security men in the Bhombhoor area of the Kohlu district. He also claimed that a truck was attacked in Chamalang coal-mine area, leaving truck driver dead or seriously injured.

He said that helicopters were attacking different areas of Balochistan.

Official sources, when contacted for comment on the BLA claims, termed them ‘baseless and wrong propaganda’.
“No such incident took place in any area of the Kohlu district in recent days,” the sources said.
