MIRPURKHAS : Power outages continue to plague Mirpurkhas

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 30: Despite protests by consumers, power outages continue in
Mirpurkhas district.
Reports received from different parts of the district say that power failure
occurs for three to five hours each day, severely affecting different towns.
Besides, business activities have also been adversely affected by unannounced
loadshedding.
Protest demonstrations have been recently held by the consumers in Mirpurkhas,
Mirwah Gorchani, Samaro, Kot Ghulam Mohammad, Jhuddo and Sindhri.
Mirpurkhas District Naib Nazim Zafar Ahmed Kamali condemned power outage and
said that loadshedding during Ramzan was creating hardships for the people.
Talking to Dawn, he said that the district council at its recent meeting had
taken notice of power failure and demanded of the Sindh government to ensure
regular supply of power.
Mirwah Gorchani union council nazim Chaudhry Ehsanul Haq also deplored
unannounced loadshedding and demanded an end to it.
MINISTER: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani has
expressed dissatisfaction over the efficiency of officials of the excise and
taxation department, Mirpurkhas, and asked them to improve their working.
Speaking at a ceremony of tricycle distribution among the disabled persons here
on Saturday, the minister said that the people knew where narcotics were being
openly sold in defunct Mirpurkhas division but the officials were not taking any
action against drug pushers. He directed the officers to immediately take action
against drug trade.
He said that his party’s government had established the Board of Intermediate
and Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas, and soon foundation stones of Mirpurkhas
medical college and Sindh university campus in Mirpurkhas would be laid.
He announced the grant of a motorcycle rickshaw for the Mirpurkhas Special
Sports Association and Rs5,000 cash prize each for two disabled persons.
District Naib Nazim Zafar Ahmed Kamali announced that an electronic water cooler
would be provided to the Gulistan-i-Mazooreen centre.
