KARACHI : Management of 20 colleges summoned for poor results

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 30: Most of the 20 private sector colleges, which showed downright poor performance in intermediate exams this year, had less than 10 candidates registered with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, officials told Dawn.

The directorate of private education had summoned the managements of 20 colleges, which gave zero per cent result in the second-year premedical exams, to explain their position.

In some explanations, the directorate was told that the colleges had only one candidate in the exams and it was top of the reasons for their zero per cent results.

“A college had fielded just one candidate in the pre-medical examinations while a couple of others had registered two to four and some others less than 10 candidates for the premedical exams,” Mansoob Siddiqui, director private educational institutions told Dawn.

He also referred to a private college, which had registered four students, and none of them appear in the exams.

Mr Siddiqui said, “The situation is not encouraging in the first place and we have decided to take some steps to improve the situation.” He said the directorate had approved to do away with certain faculty in the colleges with lesser number of students and on the basis of poor performance.
