KARACHI : Probe into Siemen’s affairs urged

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 30: The KESC’s People Workers Union, welcoming the reported termination of the power distribution and maintenance contract to the Siemens, has demanded immediate steps be check the latter’s interference in the KESC matters.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the union also called for a thorough probe into the affairs relating to the contracting firm to ascertain what else the wrong it had done to the KESC. A complete and clear picture should emerge to show how much damage and losses the Siemens had caused to the power utility.

The union claimed that a computer software which had been introduced by the Siemens in the KESC was still being handled by the contractor, adding that the KESC’s computer system had been blocked which, according to the union, could be owing to the firm’s interference.

The union said the firm’s poor performance had caused great hardship to citizens for which it should be held accountable.
