QUETTA, Sept 28: The National Party and the Baloch Students Organisation (Bashirzeb group) staged demonstrations here on Friday condemning the raids and arrests made in connection with the killing of a high-ranking police officer in Quetta.

Leader of Opposition in the Balochistan Assembly Kachkol Ali Baloch, National Party secretary-general Mir Hasil Bizenjo and MPA Jan Mohammad Buledi addressed the protesters. They claimed that the government was deliberately creating a law and order problem.

They said that police had ‘unlawfully’ arrested hundreds of people from the Killi Ismail suburb of the city and maintained that such a large number of persons could not be involved in the killing of the police officer.

They said the government would not be allowed to continue its victimisation policy against Baloch people and warned that the people would react strongly.

The BSO members assembled outside the local press club and denounced the arrests and raids.

The protesters chanted anti-government slogans and announced that they would continue their struggle for Baloch rights.

The BSO (Mohinuddin) Quetta president Ataullah Baloch announced at a press conference that classes would be boycotted at educational institutions on Saturday and a black day would be observed on the coming Sunday and Monday to condemn the security forces action in Killi Ismail.
