LARKANA, Sept 28: The Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Friday quashed a fake FIR involving an oil tanker registered by the SHO and ASI of Guddu police station and imposed on them Rs40,000 each fine for illegally impounding the tanker.

The division bench of Mr Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Mr Justice A.R. Farooque Pirzado heard the petition when the DPO of Kashmore, Noor Ahmed Paichoho, SHO of Gudu Police station, Khalid Sarki, and ASI Mazar Khan appeared in court.

The petitioner, Mohammed Khan, said that police had impounded his oil tanker on April 1, 2007 under an FIR. Since then they had kept the tanker at police station, which contained 40,000 litres of petrol at the time of seizure, the petitioner said.

The division bench quashed the FIR and observed that the SHO and ASI should not be posted at any police station for three years and also asked the DPO and the SHO to hand over the oil tanker in the condition in which it had been impounded.
