Jirga pledges to curb drugs

GHALANAI, Sept 24: The Haleemzai tribe has given a written assurance to the local administration that no person in their area would be allowed to engage in narcotics trade or deal in ‘obscene’ CDs.

Around 60 tribal elders attended a jirga on Monday and submitted the pledge at the agency headquarters in Ghalanai, official sources said. Jirga member Malik Sahib Dad said that all shops and markets accused of being involved in ‘immoral’ business in the Mian Mandi area had been asked to wind up their businesses.
