University teacher’s reinstatement sought

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 20: Teachers of the Balochistan University boycotted classes on Wednesday in protest against the alleged victimisation policy of the administration and demanded reinstatement of a faculty member.

In a statement, the Academic Staff Association of the university said the teachers protested against the sacking of Prof Agha Nasir of the Urdu department. Association president Kaleemullah Barach criticised the forced retirement of 109 teaching staff by offering ‘golden handshake’.

A university spokesman clarified that Prof Nasir’s services were terminated after an inquiry that proved he had submitted a fake doctorate degree which was later cancelled by the Higher Education Commission.
