RAWALPINDI, Sept 20: The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench on Thursday deferred the hearing in the case of a missing man till Oct 4 as the local police sought more time to complete their interrogation about the alleged disappearance.

R A Bazaar SHO Azam Butt told Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah that he needed more time to locate the whereabouts of Imran Aziz.

Special prosecutor-general Saleemullah Haq, appearing on behalf of the respondents, appealed that the SHO be given sufficient time and assured that he would submit complete investigation report on the next hearing.

During the previous hearing, the judge had directed the SHO to look into the disappearance of the man who was a resident of an area falling in the jurisdiction of his police station and submit a report with the LHC within three days.

The other respondents, the federation through secretary interior, the CPO and DPO Rawalpindi were to submit their comments on Sept 17 but the public prosecutor requested the court that the report of the SHO should be considered first that was admitted by the judge.

Tanveer Imran, wife of Imran Aziz, resident of Dhoke Syedan Misrial Road, stated in her petition through Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui advocate that the local police in the company of the Elite Force and some persons in civvies raided her house on July 8 to arrest her husband, a dentist by profession, who was not at home. So they arrested the younger brothers of Mr Aziz namely Jibran Aziz, 26, and Salman Aziz, 24.

Jibran Aziz was released on July 10 but the illegal detention and unprecedented torture aggravated his ailment that led to his death on July 15, the petitioner alleged.

Salman Aziz was released on July 17, the day the writ petition was fixed before the court, and Imran Aziz also appeared in the court. The police on the occasion categorically stated that Mr Aziz was not required in any case. Latter, secrete agencies arrested him from outside the LHC on July 17, she claimed.

Since his arrests the whereabouts of Mr Aziz are not known. She prayed to the court for early recovery of her husband or his production before any court of law if wanted in any case.
