ISLAMABAD, Sept 17: A 29-strong contingent from Pakistan will participate in four disciplines during the 2nd Indoor Asian Games scheduled to be held from Oct 26 to Nov 3 at Macau.
The Pakistani competitors will vie for medals in athletics, chess, kabaddi and snooker.
Pakistan captured a silver medal through the efforts of athlete Abdul Rasheed when the Olympic Council of Asia first organised Indoor Asian Games at Bangkok in 2005.
A 19-member contingent represented Pakistan in the disciplines of athletics and swimming in the maiden edition of the event two years back.
The Games on view in the 2nd edition at Macau will be aerobic gymnastics, bowling, chess, xiangqi, cue Sports, dance Sport, dragon & lion dance, electronic sports (e-Sports), extreme sports and BMX freestyle/inline, Stunt/ Skateboard, extreme sports and sports climbing, finswimming (25m), futsal, hoop sepaktakraw, indoor athletics, indoor cycling, indoor hockey, kabaddi, muay and short course swimming (25m).
The Pakistan contingent will comprise 21 players and eight team officials.
Syed Mohammad Abid Qadri will be the chef-de-mission while other contingent officials will be Syed Amir Hamza Gilani (secretary-cum-treasurer), Dr Pervez Rizvi (team doctor), Zubair Ahmed (coach) Mahmood Riaz, Syed Aftab Hussain Gilani, Mohammad Irfan Gohar and Alamgir A. Shaikh (all managers).
The athletes in the squad will be Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Sajjad while chess players are Tanvir Mohiuddin Gilani, Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi, Amer Karim and Mohammad Younus.
The kabaddi squad comprises Wajid Ali, Nasir Ali, Maqsood Ali, Mohammad Arshad, Adnan Afzal, Basharat Subhani, Rahat Maqsood, Wasim Sajjad, Naved Akram, Ibrar Hussain, Sajjad Hussain and Mohammad Akram.
