APDM observes black day, blasts deportation of Nawaz

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 12: The Balochistan chapter of the All Parties Democratic Movement on Tuesday observed a black day and took out a procession in the city to condemn deportation of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia in blatant violation of the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The speakers vehemently criticised the government of Saudi Arabia for helping an army dictator in the deportation of a Pakistani leader.

The activists of the component parties of the APDM, wearing black armbands, and holding flags, gathered at the Taxi stand and from there they took out the procession which passed through the Jinnah Road, Manan Chowk, Shara-i-Iqbal and terminated at the Bacha Chowk.

At the Bacha Chowk, a public meeting was held which was addressed by Usman Kakar, provincial president of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party; Khudadad Khan, provincial president of the ANP; Habib Jalib Baloch, secretary-general of the BNP-M; Dr Ishaq Baloch, information secretary of the National Party; Qayyum Kakar of the Jammat-i-Islami, Qaddus Sasoli of the Jamait Ahle-Hadith and Shahid Qazi of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf.

The speakers condemned the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Lebanon for helping the Pakistan government send the PML-N leader into forced exile.

They also condemned the two foreign leaders’ press conference in Islamabad, saying that both the leaders had blatantly interfered in the internal affairs of Pakistan.

They said the Saudi government, which had denied political freedom to the people of their own country, was now pleasing the dictator of Pakistan by violating the clear verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.Representatives of the APDM asserted that the deportation of Nawaz Sharif had plunged the country into a serious political crisis as foreign countries were openly interfering in the internal matters of Pakistan and making mockery of the sovereignty of Pakistan.

The speakers said that deportation of the PML-N leader would not affect the ongoing struggle of opposition parties against the military dictatorship, adding that the political movement would continue till the toppling of the Musharraf government.

The APDM meeting adopted three resolutions on the occasion. The first resolution condemned the ‘abduction’ and deportation of Nawaz Sharif to Jeddah, and demanded of the apex court to take notice of this ‘unlawful act’ of the government which sent a citizen into forced exile at gunpoint.

Through second resolution, the meeting demanded of the government to immediately release all political activists and stop raiding houses of political workers.

In the third resolution, the meeting demanded an end to military operations in Balochistan.
