Security for Wapda dam staff sought

ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: The government has decided to provide sufficient security to the revenue staff of the Water and Power Development Authority and the NWFP government has been requested to deploy security forces for their protection so that work on the Kurram-Tangi dam project can be expedited.

The additional secretary for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas assured a meeting presided over by Water and Power Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi that security would be provided to the staff for the project.

The meeting decided that adequate compensation would be paid to the people affected by the project and directed Wapda and the provincial government to expedite the acquisition of land in coordination with the North Waziristan political agent.—PPI
