SUKKUR: Foreign pilgrims visit historical temples

SUKKUR, Sept 12: A 23-member delegation of Hindu pilgrims hailing from Indonesia, Dubai and India arrived here on Tuesday to visit historical places of worship.

The delegation, led by Daya Parkash, included 16 members from India, four from Dubai and three from Indonesia.

They visited Kalka Devi Temple in the historical area of Aror, Jind Peer Temple on the bank of Indus River and Sadh Bela Temple at an island in the river.

The elders of local Hindu community accompanied the delegation and briefed them about the history of the centuries-old temples. Earlier, the delegation was accorded warm welcome on their arrival in the city.

Recent thaw in Pakistan-India relationship has opened the door for citizens of the two neighbouring countries to visit their relatives as well as sacred and historical places in each country.—PPI
