Four-star Broad restricts India

MANCHESTER (England), Aug 30: Stuart Broad took a career-best haul as England dismissed India for 212 in the fourth One-day International at Old Trafford here on Thursday.

Fast bowler Broad, the son of former England opening batsman Chris, finished with figures of four for 51 from his maximum permitted 10 overs to surpass his previous best of three for 20 against the West Indies at Lord's in July.

India, who had collapsed to 32 for three in 12 overs, were indebted to Yuvraj Singh (71) and Sachin Tendulkar (55), who shared a fourth-wicket stand of 71 and it remained to be seen how England's batsmen would fare under the floodlights on a pitch of increasingly variable bounce.

Tailender Zaheer Khan added late impetus with 20 off 19 balls before he fell to James Anderson, the pace bowler taking three for 38 on his Lancashire home ground.

Piyush Chawla was 13 not out when the innings ended with two balls to spare.

Anderson's county colleague Andrew Flintoff marked his return to the England side by taking a wicket with his sixth ball and finished with typically economical figures of one for 31 as the hosts looked to extend their 2-1 lead in the seven-match series.
