All detained for rioting at Lal Masjid out on bail

RAWALPINDI, Aug 28: The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) No. 1 on Tuesday granted bail to the 10 remaining supporters of the Lal Masjid administration in the case of rioting on July 27 when the mosque was reopened after its renovation.

ATC special judge Habibur Rehman took up the case registered with the Aabpara police against 65 people, who allegedly created law and order situation while demanding the reinstatement of former chief cleric of Lal Masjid as Khateeb.

Fifty alleged rioters were set free by the police after initial investigations and five others were granted bail by the ATC No. 2 judge two weeks ago.

The remaining 10 were granted bail on Tuesday against surety bonds of Rs50,000 each. The judge ordered their release if they were not wanted in any other case.

Those bailed were Abdul Hameed, Mohammad Naseem, Nusrat Raheem, Anas Gul, Mohammad Ishaq, Mohammad Idrees, Mohammad Naveed, Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Kashif and Abdul Basit.

In another case of burning of CDs registered with the Bhara Kahu police, the judge granted bail to seven people against the surety bonds of Rs30,000 each. Those bailed were Aftab, Mohammad Adnan, Zubair Ahmed, Mohammad Zubair, Azizur Rehman, Mohammad Afraz and Mohammad Ibrahim.
