KARACHI, Aug 20: Accountability Court-III Judge Ishaque Memon on Monday directed the Central Prison superintendent to arrange a medical examination of Darayus Cyrus Minwala by jail doctors and shift him to a hospital for treatment if needed.

The AC was hearing an application seeking permission for hospitalisation of Cyrus Minwala, an official of the Cathay Pacific Airways, nominated by the NAB for causing a big loss to the Pakistan International Airlines in an aircraft deal case.

He submitted he was seriously ill, medical facilities in the jail were unsatisfactory and prayed to the court to allow him hospitalisation for proper treatment.

Mr Minwala was arrested on Aug15 by NAB at Karachi airport while coming from Dubai. Now he is in judicial custody. He is accused of taking huge bribes in an agreement for the induction of six used B-747-300 aircraft into the PIA fleet on a lease in 2002 for a period of one year.—PPI
