KARACHI: Six injured in clash

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 19: Six persons were wounded in an exchange of fire between workers of the Jeay Sindh and the Awami National Party in the Sachal police limits.

The clash is said to be over a petty issue. According to police, the trouble started when a man refused to pay for the cup of tea he had taken at the Khyber Hotel at Sachal Chowk on Sunday afternoon.

His refusal and the hotel owner’s insistence resulted in a riot-like situation in the area, a spokesman for the DIG East said.

The confrontation led to an exchange of fire in which Sher Ali, Jan, Nazeer Ahmed, Dilshad, Nisar and Murtaza sustained gunshot wounds. They were taken to different nearby hospitals for treatment.

However, the situation was under control in the area, he added.

Body found

Police found the semi-decomposed body of a man later identified as Khadim Husain in the jurisdiction of Malir Cantt police station.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital for a postmortem examination where doctors said that the man was killed after being hit by a blunt weapon on the head.
