HARIPUR: Tarbela Lake filling up

HARIPUR, Aug 17: The Tarbela Lake was expected to be filled to its maximum capacity by Aug 20, official sources at the Tarbela Dam told Dawn here on Friday. The 100-km-long lake fills to its maximum capacity of 1,550 feet on Aug 20 every year and the stored water is used for irrigation and generating electricity as per the demands of the Irsa.

Official sources said the water level on Friday was 1,548.5 ft, which was almost 2ft short of its maximum level. The inflow was recorded at 220,400 cusecs and the outflow from the power house at 119,400 cusecs, while the outflow from the spill was 86,400 cusecs.
