TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 12: Poor arrangements and a lack of proper monitoring system by the Health Department allegedly marred the recent three-day anti-polio campaign in the district, as hundreds of children below the age of five years could not be vaccinated.

The public claimed that during the campaign launched with the financial assistance of the World Health Organisation, health teams failed to vaccinate each and every child during their door-to-door drive.

Sources said the department had no proper monitoring system to keep a check on its teams as a result of which some of the teams failed to meet their targets.

Sources also said the district administration was also provided with incorrect data.

When contacted, Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Muhammad Akram denied the allegations and said all teams had met their targets and not a single child remained unvaccinated during the campaign. He was, however, unable to give data on the vaccinated or unvaccinated children.
