DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 12: Most of the feeder schools established by the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) in the district are non-functional while teachers have been drawing salaries regularly for over a year, it is learnt here.

As many as 300 feeder schools have been set up here for children aged between four to 11 who could not join any school. The purpose of such institutes is to enable them for high school education.

Feeder schools established in tribal area, union councils of settled areas of Mana Ahmedani, Mamoori, Wadoor and in other UCs of the district have been found non-functional despite provision of books and other related material to children free of cost. The salary of each teacher is Rs1,500 per month.

When this correspondent contacted NCHD district literacy officer (DLO) Ejaz Ahmed Kharik, neither he denied nor confirmed the report.

“I am not in a position to comment in this regard. The general-manager will tell you the exact situation,” Mr Kharik said.

NCHD general-manager Waseem Arshad was contacted time and again, but he was not available.
