MIRPURKHAS: Digri villages without power for a week

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Aug 12: Power supply to most of the villages in Digri taluka has remained suspended for a week after the Digri grid station developed a fault on last Sunday.

As a result, thousands of villagers are facing hardships. Water supply from water supply schemes has also remained suspended, compelling the people to fetch drinking water from hand pumps and wells.

A Hesco team has arrived at the grid station to remove the fault but it has failed to do so as yet. When contacted, an office at the grid station said that the team was busy in rectifying the fault.

death threat: The incharge Madressah Kanzul Iman of Ahle Sunnat, Hafiz Mehmood Qadri, has received a letter of threatening him with dire consequences by unknown person here on Saturday.

Report said that some unidentified persons wrote a letter to Hafiz Mehmood for allegedly using objectionable language in some of his statements against the administration of Lal Masjid and threatened to kill him soon.

Hafiz Mehmood said that he had not uttered any controversial word in his statements during Lal Masjid incident and added that he had only said that Islam is a peaceful religion and not oppressive.

SHO issuing threats: A resident of Karim town, Mohammad Shaukat, has accused the SHO of the Town police, Allan Khan Abbasi, and other police officials of issuing threats to implicate him in false cases if he does not withdraw a complaint against them.

Talking to journalists at the press club here on Sunday, he said that few months ago, his son Mohammed Asif and nephews Mohammad Akbar and Mohammad Dawood were picked up by the SHO and implicated in false cases. He said that he had filed a direct complaint in the court of the district and sessions court against the SHO and other police officials involved in the incident. He said that he was being pressurised to withdraw the case.
