DADU, Aug 11: A sim nullah developed two breaches due to rise in water level near Bachal Khoso village about 10 kilometres from Mehar inundating four villages and about 800 acres of agricultural land on Saturday.

The villagers and the growers from the flooded villages, Bachal Khoso, Allah Dad Khoso, Mureed Khoso and Imam Khoso staged a demonstration in front of the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, on the Kazi Arif Road when he was on his way to flood-hit areas.

They told the minister that they had informed the irrigation officials about rise in the nullah’s level after they had stopped pumping out water to reduce its level because the nullah’s embankments were already weak.

They blamed the irrigation officials for the breaches and said that they had suffered millions of rupees of losses due to the breaches. Mr Jatoi directed the irrigation engineer Munawar Bozdar to plug the breaches within 12 hours.
