KARACHI: PFF demands licences for fishermen

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 10: The Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, a non-governmental organization, has demanded that the government issue fishing licences to local fishermen as promised by Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim three months ago.

Speaking a press conference at the Karachi Press Club on Friday, PFF Chairman Mohammad Ali Shah said the chief minister had promised the fishing community in April that they would be issued licences. However, he said no official notification to this effect was issued despite a lapse of three months.

Mr Shah warned that the fishermen would agitate across the province if they were not issued fishing licences till Aug 25.
