KARACHI, Aug 9: Pakistan Rangers Sindh has decided to form a table tennis team comprising youth who will make their debut in the upcoming Inter-club event next month.

“Their jobs will be regularised once they prove their mettle and return with flying colours in the same event,” declared Major Gen Javed Zia, Director General, Pakistan Rangers Sindh, while inaugurating the juniors ranking table tennis tournament on Thursday.

The positive move was welcomed by all and sundry since the table tennis players have been facing a tough time after the banks and commercial organisations disbanded their outfits some time ago.

Javed advised the Karachi Table Tennis Association (KTTA) to conduct a tournament on all national days and at the same time offered to sponsor the event that coincides with the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation on Dec 25.

He disclosed that top three players of the newly launched juniors ranking would be provided free membership at the Rangers Sports Complex.

The Rangers official said it was his endeavour to organise international events at the complex. Brig. Faqaur Rehman, Commander Sachal Rangers, Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, chairman KTTA, Farhan Essa and Major Mazharul Haq were prominent among others who present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, due to rains, the draws of the event and regular matches were deferred for Friday.
