Tribute planned for Lara

PORT-OF-SPAIN (Trinidad), Aug 9: A commemorative cricket match has been proposed to officially honour the recently retired batting maestro Brian Lara at the newly built Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

The match, having blessings of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will see Lara leading the West Indies against a Select XI featuring several current world stars. The proposal was put to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) at their annual general meeting at end of July by the WICB Sub-Committee.—Agencies
