KARACHI, Aug 9: A division bench of the High Court of Sindh on Thursday directed the SHC Nazir to inspect a site to ascertain the factual position about the claim of some petitioners seeking directives for compensation or alternative plots against their properties allegedly acquired for the Lyari Expressway Project (LEWP).

Some 550 petitioners submitted that their properties situated in Madina Colony and in other areas in the city were acquired because the same were situated within the range of the LEWP.

The petitioners submitted that their properties were acquired but no compensation or alternative plots had been provided to them.

The counsel representing the city government rejected the claim of the petitioners and submitted that it was false.

The division bench comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ali Sain Dino Metlo appointed the Nazir as commissioner to inspect the site and present a report to the court.

Naming the city district government’s executive district officer (revenue), project director, the LEWP chairman and others as respondents, the petitioner prayed for directives to the respondents to pay compensation or provide alternative plots to them.
