Pakistan thrash India to level series 3-3


VISHAKAPATNAM (India), Aug 8: Pakistan spikers produced a wonderful performance to outclass traditional challengers India 3-1 in the sixth match of the inaugural Pak-India volleyball Test series on Wednesday.

In the first set, India took lead through powerful spikes by P.S. Srikanth and Mandeep Singh who were supported by setter Pandian who distributed intelligently, helping his side take the set 28-26.

A renewed Pakistan retaliated in the second set with superb blocking and powerful smashing by Naseer Ahmed and Irfan Nawaz, guiding their side to a 30-28 set win.

In the next set the tourists kept the momentum going, scoring some quick points to keep the Indians under pressure making them commit unforced errors while claiming the set 25-16.

In the fourth and final set too Pakistan held their dominance, knocking their opponents out 25-20 and so taking the Test match 3-1 to level the eight-match series 3-3. —Agencies
