SHO summoned on arrest of Mehsud’s aides

QUETTA, Aug 8: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the station house officer and investigation officer of Zhob for Aug 13, ordering the SHO to appear with the record of arrest of those who were present in the house where militant commander Abdullah Mehsud blew himself up on July 24.

The bench consisting of Chief Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani issued the notices on a constitutional petition filed by one Mohammad Alam saying that police and personnel of the anti-terrorist force had raided the home of Mohammad Ayub, where Abdullah Mehsud blew himself up instead of surrendering.

The petitioner stated that the raiding team had arrested three people, of whom Mohammad Azam and Shamsher Khan were in detention of Zhob police, while Abdur Rehman, who was accompanying Abdullah Mehsud, had neither been shown as accused nor his whereabouts were known.

The petitioner stated that he was cousin and uncle of the arrested men.

He requested the court to order the police officials to allow him to meet the detainees for obtaining their signatures on vakalatnama. The proceedings were adjourned till Aug 13.—APP
