KARACHI, Aug 7: The French consul-general, Pierre Seillan, visited the sites of a number of ongoing projects in the city on Tuesday. The day-long visit of the French diplomat helped him change his overall perception of the city.

“After (spending) one day, my perception of Karachi has changed as I have gained new knowledge that has helped me tremendously to give my assessment,” Mr Seillan told Dawn at the end of his 9-hour long tour.

Explaining the purpose of his visit, he said that it was aimed at gaining first-hand knowledge as being a diplomat it was his responsibility to send a report to his government based on reality.

Accompanied by City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and other senior officials of the city government, Mr Seillan visited main University Road to inspect the site of a pipeline project aimed at supplying water to areas in Clifton.

Besides, a pipeline project along Lyari Expressway, he showed keen interest in a project to lay underwater pipeline to Karachi’s islands.
