DADU, July 31: Various waterborne diseases were spreading among the flood victims while over 400 cases of waterborne diseases from Mado, Faridabad, Gozo, Chhore areas were reported at government and private hospitals of taluka Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah on Tuesday.

The flood water was receding in Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah areas in western part of the flood protective embankment and in Main Nara Valley drain.

People have been facing food and clean water shortage and have shifted to FP embankment from Faridabad to Manchhar Lake.

Nabi Bux, a grower, said that flood water would take 35 days to recede completely, and this period would be crucial for waterborne diseases.

EDO health Dr Dhani Bux Thebo said that 30 medical camps have been set up along FP embankment where 25,000 patients have been treated.

MPA Sadaqat Ali Jatoi said that two water tanks were supplying drinking water to people settled along FP embankment.

He said that relief goods were being distributed on daily basis at the Qaim Jatoi relief camp and some 700 patients receive daily treatment there.

A fisherman villager at Band Manchhar, Maula Bux Mallah, said that 15,000 fishermen have been affected after increase in water level in Manchhar Lake, and they had shifted their families to embankment.

The breach that occurred in MNV drain at village Kamal Khan was not plugged yet, which has inundated 100 villages.

Meanwhile, people of the union council Chhinni, Sawro, and Kamal Khan took out a rally in Johi demanding health facilities and relief goods.

They demanded of the government to announce package for jobless youth of flood affected area.
