HYDERABAD: CJ’s reinstatement ray of hope: SDF
The sewerage system in Qasimabad has been improved by 1000 per cent as compared to last year’s which will save people from rain emergencies, said District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil. He lambasted those who claimed to be the champions of the right of Qasimabad taluka for doing nothing except hollow slogans. He said this while speaking at the inaugural of a new rising main in Qasimabad, on Monday. The DG HDA Altaf Hussain Memon, Secretary HDA Shoukat Hayat Bhutto, the MD Wasa Abdul Maalik Khatri, Deputy Project Director HDP Kafeel Ahmed, elected representatives and elite of the area attended the ceremony. Kanwar Naveed Jamil said development schemes launched and completed in Qasimabad taluka by the present district government in only 22 months had surpassed the development works carried out here during the last 30 years. He said last year's rains had ruined many localities of Qasimabad like other areas. He said the district government had spent tens of millions of rupees in Qasimabad to revamp and modernise its sewerage system. Disposal capacity of three old pumping stations had been increased by 400 to 500 per cent with the construction of three new out of which two were operational. A third pumping station in Sheedi Goth will complete shortly, he said. “One kilometre-long dyke at a cost of Rs8 million had been raised with a separate pumping station to drain out rain water of low lying areas of Shoro Goth, Khaskheli Goth, Kolhi Goth and adjoining areas, he added.” Giving details he said construction of the rising main from Qasimabad pumping station to Indus river was completed in 15 days at a cost of Rs30 million with the pumping capacity hiked from 2,200 gallons per minute to 7,200 gallons. In addition to existing 100 horse power pumping machinery, three more machines of 125 HP, 75 HP and 60 HP had been installed, he said. Senior Vice President JUP and MNA Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair condemned the arrest of the district president of the party, Mohammad Ibrahim Shaikh and police raids on the houses of party leaders and workers.
