KARACHI, July 24: Sindh Health Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed recommended an honorarium, equivalent to the basic pay, for teachers who had assessed 28,000 written scripts of job applicants, pertaining to Grade 1 to 15, in the health department.

Talking to the 25 teachers associated with the provincial education department, in grade

17 and above, at his office here on Tuesday, he said that the summary for their proposed honorarium had been despatched to the Sindh chief minister.

Acknowledging their honesty and dedication, the minister said that the government was committed to strengthen the culture of merit and to quash nepotism.

“It is due to the very fact that a system of written test followed by interview of the best candidates prior to the final selection has been initiated for no less than 28,000 positions in the health department,” the minister said.
