KARACHI: Light rain forecast for city

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 22: Different parts of the city witnessed a light drizzle on Sunday while the Meteorological Department has forecast sporadic light showers on Monday.

Weathermen predicted chances of monsoon rains in Karachi on Monday. However, they said a monsoon trough at sea level continued to run close to the foothills of the Himalayas, which is bringing a lot of moisture over the upper part of Pakistan.

In its report, the Met Office said on Sunday that a westerly trough was also passing over northern Pakistan and interacting with monsoon currents.

The current meteorological analysis suggests widespread rains accompanied with dust/thunderstorms during the next 3-4 days in Punjab, the Northern Areas, Kashmir, the NWFP and Islamabad, including the river catchments.

Scattered dust/thunderstorms and rains with a few heavy showers are also expected in Sindh and eastern and north-eastern Balochistan during the next 24-48 hours, the report said.
