KARACHI, July 20: The frequent movement of water tankers with leaking nozzles have ruined roads and streets in proximity of Muslimabad and Sidnum water hydrants, particularly Dadabhoy Nauroji Road that connects Quaid’s mausoleum with Kashmir Road and Society Office.
Located in the residential areas of Catholic Colony No 2 and Muslimabad, the hydrants are a source of concern for the passers-by and area people. The hydrants had not only rendered several streets and the road impassable but also created unhygienic conditions, they said.
The residents said they had no other choice but to use the potholed streets for proceeding to and from the mausoleum roundabout, Kashmir Road and Society Office. They also pointed out that tankers with pressure horns and smoke emissions not only added to noise and air pollution but also disturbed their privacy when parked along the boundary walls of their bungalows.
People residing in Khudadad and Shikarpur colonies, too, experience the same ordeal every day.
Apprehending that the recklessly-driven tankers might cause fatal accidents as a number of schools were located in the locality, they urged the relevant authorities to take precautionary measures.
In Catholic Colony No 2, the residents of two apartment compounds – Omen Resorts and Omen Gardens – complained that Hume Road and Dadabhoy Nauroji Road had been in a shambles since long but the authorities concerned had yet to take notice of the situation and order their repair.
