KARACHI, July 8: The Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga), expressing its serious concern over the non-implementation of an accord between it and the Sindh government, has threatened to change its ‘strategy’ if the government did not start fulfilling its commitments.

The PAC’s zonal members met here on Sunday to take stock of the situation and discuss the government’s attitude with reference to the future course of action.

Among other issues, the meeting discussed torching of a dumper reportedly hijacked in Gulshan-i-Hadeed, and called for the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of all those involved in the incident.

The meeting reminded the government that the PAC had extended its cooperation to the provincial government for which it had to put its own reputation at stake for the sake of peace in the aftermath of the May 12 bloodshed.

It decided to give the government one week’s time to change its attitude and implement the accord. If the situation remained unchanged after a week, the PAC would convene a ‘grand jirga’ to decide a future course of action, the participants declared, warning that the responsibility of the consequences would rest on the Sindh governor and government.
