300,000 to get 15pc raise in pension

KARACHI, July 7: The government has increased the pensions of those attached to the Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI) by 15 per cent. According to a handout issued here on Saturday, the EOBI administration has taken steps to enable 300,000 old-age and widow pensioners to get increased pensions for July 2007.

For this purpose, all regional and field offices country-wide have been instructed to amend the pension books of pensioners and paste the relevant stickers on them.

All the pensioners have been requested to contact their nearest regional or field offices to enable the necessary changes.

The EOBI has also informed all the approved bank branches of the National Bank of Pakistan, representatives of trade unions and labour leaders about the procedure of making amendments in the pension books through the regional and field offices of the institution.—PPI
