KARACHI, July 3: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday ordered the investigation officer to file an accurate report in a case registered against 300 unidentified people who had protested against the killing of former chief minister of Balochistan Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti last year.
Judge Abdul Ghafoor Memon of the ATC II fixed July 10 for the submission of the report. It was reported that there were contradictions in the police challan and first information report (No 139/2006) registered at the Pak Colony Police Station on August 18, 2006.
The accused have been charged under Sections 302, 324, 147, 148, 186 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code. A police official of the station concerned said on the telephone that the protestors had attacked the Site Town nazim, ransacked his office and set the office and entire building on fire.
“Two policemen, ASI Jamil and constable Akram, had also received bullet wounds,” the source added.
Three accused — Nasir Khalifa, Khalid Baloch and Baba Noor Mohammad — are in judicial custody while eight others are out on bail.
The case was transferred to the ATC II from the court of the District and Sessions Judge, West, on June 23 this year.
Efforts were made to obtain further details of the case but the investigation officer concerned could not be reached for comment.
