KARACHI: 50 Indian fishermen released

KARACHI, July 1: Fifty Indian fishermen, who were caught poaching in Pakistan’s territorial waters, were released here on Sunday.

“We have released 50 Indians, all of them are fishermen,” the superintendent of Landhi jail, Mohammad Shakir, told AFP.

He said they had been in jail for the past 17 months.

The men would travel to Lahore to be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah border crossing on Monday, officials said.—AFP
