PESHAWAR, June 25: A galaxy of artistes performed on Saturday at a charity concert aimed at motivating people to donate blood for thalassaemia patients.

The concert was organised by ‘Future Vision’ at the Hayatabad Model School.

Music-lovers from all parts of the city rushed to the spot well before the programme got under way in their bid to have seats of their choice.

Budding Pashto singers performed on the occasion and almost all of them won appreciation from the audience, but comedian Sangeen Janan actually stole the show whose every bit drew thunderous applause.

Tickets were priced at Rs500, an amount apparently on the higher side for students, yet all seats were occupied, most of them by youngsters.

A large number of other people found themselves standing despite having paid for tickets.

The chairman of the Future Vision, Imran Zareen Khattak, said on the occasion that the suffering of thalassaemia patients multiplied because of the unwillingness of the healthy to donate blood.

He said people had a misconception about blood donation as they considered it harmful to health. On the contrary, he added, donating blood every three months was good for health.

He said members of his organisation would visit all parts of the province to raise awareness among the people about blood donation.

Mr Khattak appealed to people to donate blood to help the ailing children and to earn the blessings of the God.

Janas Khan, Amirzeb, Sangeen Afridi, Gulab Aurakzai, Zubair Khattak, Aziz Khan and others sang their famous numbers.

Speaking on the occasion, artiste Tahir Ali Khan said that affected children required several tests before the transfusion of blood.
